COSMETIC TATTOOING BY SELINA JO DUFFY

 You may NOT have this procedure if:

• You are under the age of 18
• You have received a COVID vaccine within the last 2 weeks
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have been on Accutane within the last year
• Have received Botox / Dysport within last two weeks
• Have HIV or Hepatitis or any other infectious or viral diseases
• Undergoing Chemotherapy
• You are Epileptic
• You have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
• You are taking medications that may affect how your skin responds to blood clotting and healing
• You develop infections easily
• Have active acne, rash (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis) or sunburn on or around treated area
• Have allergy to Lidocaine, Tetracaine or Epinephrine
• If your previous tattoo is not approved by me

LIP BLUSH specific:

• You are a smoker (pigment may not retain properly, colors may distort)
• You had lip injections less than 4 weeks prior to your appointment

The following conditions WILL NEED a doctors note for permanent cosmetics:

• diabetes
• hemophilia
• thyroid issues
• auto immune diseases

 To receive good results, you must follow all pre/post care. By booking an appointment, you are agreeing that you have read, understood and accept that you may be turned away if you have not followed instructions.

• CANNOT be pregnant or breast feeding
• NO caffeine or alcohol 24 hours prior
• NO antibiotics within 4 weeks
• NO blood thinners (Advil, Asprin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E) 72 hours before appointment. This can cause excess bleeding and affect healed results
• NO Retinol, Retin-A (Vitamin A), Vitamin C, glycolic acids, AHA/BHAs or any exfoliants for at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment
• No chemical peels, laser other skin treatments at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment

BROW specific:

• You must have NO sun/tanning bed exposure for 4 weeks before your procedure. Sun exposure/damage can result in loss of pigment or increased darkening of healed brow color
• Waxing or brow shaping should be done at least one week before your service, otherwise I can shape at your session

LIP BLUSH specific:

• NO lip filler 4 weeks prior to appointment and 4 weeks after
• Exfoliate & moisturize your lips every day 3-4 days prior to your appointment
• Bring your favorite every day lipstick or tinted balm
• If your appointment is booked during an outbreak of cold sores on your lips, the procedure may not be done. If you suffer from cold sores, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you take an anti-viral medication such as Zivorax 5 days before, day of, and 5 days after or as advised by doctor/pharmacist

MICROBLADING: This technique is completed using a manual tool which lightly scratches the skin to create hair like strokes within the brow. If you are a great candidate, this  technique can create the most natural look. Since microblading is designed to blend with your natural brow hair, the more hair you have, the more realistic your results will appear. If you have very little or sparse brow hair, results will appear more 2D and some shading or nano is recommended in these cases.

Factors to consider for microblading:

• Oily skin: Microblading heals best on normal to dry skin types. This service may not work well on clients with oily skin or large pores because this oil production can cause strokes to blur or heal lighter than expected.
• Mature skin: Tends to be more delicate and thin which may increase the likelihood of bleeding and/or pigment loss.
• Darker skin: There may be less contrast and visible detail. Powder, Combo or Nano is recommended for these clients.
• Previously tattooed/ laser tattoo removal: previous tattooing must be nearly invisible. Scar tissue associated with previous tattooing or removal may affect retention. Approval is required if you’ve had previous work.

NANO: This technique is completed using a machine which deposits tiny pixels in the form of hair like strokes. It also allows for very creative patterns, which can create a more hyper realistic look. If you are someone with more melanin in your skin and desire a hair-stroke look, this may give better results than microblading.

POWDER/SHADING: This technique is completed using a machine to create a more filled in look within the brow (no hair strokes). Oftentimes this style can best suit those who prefer a finished make-up look.

COMBO: This technique is a hybrid style of both hair strokes AND shading. Personalized to your preference, this can be completed very soft and natural, or more bold and sculpted!

•  Bleeding during procedure: Excessive bleeding will greatly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, following preparation instructions are necessary to minimize bleeding.
• Sun exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading.
• Skin care products: Exfoliants (typically for Acne or Anti-aging) will cause pigments to fade prematurely.
• Color of pigment: Lighter colors tend to fade more quickly than darker colors

LIP BLUSH specific:

• Smoking: Smokers may notice premature fading.

Yes, all cosmetic tattoos require two appointments: initial session to establish shape and foundation, and a “perfecting” session 6-12 weeks later. During touch up sessions, we will assess your retention and make any adjustments if necessary. Most clients like to go bolder in this session, and in doing so, longevity is added to the life of your tattoo. Following these two sessions, you can expect to have your tattoo “refreshed” around 2 years.

Touch ups will be scheduled at your initial session and are priced at $100. If you were unable to schedule your touch up at this time, you may book directl online or  email Selina directly at selinajoduffy@gmail.com.

Cosmetic tattooing does not wash away however pigments are designed to fade over time. Depending on your skin, health and maintenance, your tattoo will last from 2-5 years. Here are some factors that will cause premature fading: 

• Oily skin
• Retinol or Vitamin C
• Iron deficiency
• Sun exposure
• Exfoliants
• Exposure to salt water

For best results, it is recommended that you follow aftercare instructions and touch up your tattoo when at least 60% faded.

*Please note that final results CANNOT be guaranteed as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently, and a follow up appointment is required for your tattoo to be “final”. This follow up appointment takes place at 6-12 weeks, where we can assess your pigment retention and make any necessary changes.

When you arrive, you will be asked to provide ID and I will review paperwork. We will have a brief consultation where we discuss your goals and which service best suits you, your skin type and lifestyle. Photos of your brows/lips will be taken and we will start the mapping process. Before tattooing, you will be shown the mapped out design. Once we agree on design, we will begin the procedure. At the end, we will take after photos, discuss healing stages/aftercare and book your touch-up appointment. 

Pain tolerance varies from client to client however topical anesthetics are used during the service to maximize comfort. 

Initial brow sessions take approximately 2-3 hours. Initial lip blush sessions take approximately 3.5 hours. This includes consult, numbing, designing and tattooing. Touch up appointments are approximately 1-2 hours.

Correction and cover up work are taken on a very limited basis and require approval to ensure that I am able to improve what is already tattooed. Please email me clear photos of your brows/lips and we can discuss next steps.  *Please note, I do not take outside “touch ups”. If your initial session was completed by another artist, you must be approved by me as a new client.

Debit/credit are the only form of payment accepted. 

Tips are never expected but always appreciated. Cash/Venmo is preferred, however the highest form of gratuity is REFERRAL.
